10 Delicious Healthy Snack Recipes from Pinterest
by Hannah Seda
I don’t spend much time on Pinterest, but when I do, I’m usually hungry and find myself looking through recipe boards in search of a good snack. It starts innocently: I click on a picture of a brownie, and then a picture of falafel, and then something covered in cheese, and then three hours later I realize I’ve been looking at pictures of food all afternoon and //images6.fanpop.com/image/photos/36800000/Story-Of-My-Life-one-direction-36827510-500-250.gif" target="_blank">haven’t eaten a thing. The struggle is real.
So, in an attempt to make use of all the time I’ve wasted searching for food, I decided to compile a short list of healthy snack recipes I found on Pinterest. (Heads up! I’m into “pop-able” snacks and finger foods.)
These easy to make treats are bite size, sweet, and easy to eat on the go! Check out this no-bake recipe from //www.chewoutloud.com/2014/09/22/bake-energy-bites-gf/" target="_blank">Chew Out Loud.
Although it’s not advertized as a snack, these babies are delicious. //www.skinnytaste.com/spicy-black-bean-burgers-with-chipotle/" target="_blank">Skinny Taste’s recipe can be made bite sized (for sliders), and will last in your freezer for months. So whether it’s lunch, dinner, or a snack you’re hungry for, if you have these patties on hand, you’ll never go hungry.
Because healthy brownies are hard to come by, I had to share //thefoodieandthefix.com/21-day-fix-secret-ingredient-brownies-no-beans/" target="_blank">The Foodie and The Fix’s beanless recipe. Yes, I said beanless. There are people in this world who think making brownies with beans is okay. I’m here to tell you it’s not, and this recipe is exactly why.
//www.cookingclassy.com/2015/07/turkey-taco-lettuce-wraps/" target="_blank">Cooking Classy’s recipe had me at taco. Easy to assemble, easy to eat, and delicious!
Honestly, I would’ve never thought of putting chocolate chips on an apple, but the whole idea of an apple cookie is mind blowing. //rachelschultz.com/2014/04/09/apple-cookies/" target="_blank">Rachel Schultz’s recipe opened my snack world to possibilities I never dreamed existed.
Hot cheese, green peppers, pizza sauce, and broccoli all tastefully layered over a foundation of green pepper slices. //peasandcrayons.com/2014/06/bell-pepper-pizzas.html" target="_blank">Peas and Crayons’ recipe is an explosion of flavors and the possibilities are endless!
These bite sizes little beauties are delicious, pop-able, can be made in bulk and stored in the freezer, and they’re healthy. Enough said. Get the recipe from //gimmedelicious.com/2015/05/17/healthy-baked-broccoli-tots/" target="_blank">Gimme Delicious Food right now.
//tasteandsee.com/tuna-cakes/" target="_blank">Taste and See’s recipe can be made in snack sizes, or in lunch and dinner sizes. These cakes are tasty, nutritious, and can be eaten on the go.
I’m usually weird about fruits in my salsa or salad, but this recipe from //www.fromvalerieskitchen.com/2015/09/mango-corn-salsa-with-black-beans/" target="_blank">Valerie’s Kitchen changed my mind. It can be eaten by the spoonful, on chips, on bread––anything!
This recipe requires a little prep work for the shrimp, but I included it because I had the same mind blowing experience with this idea as I did with the apple cookies. //www.thewickednoodle.com/blackened-shrimp/#_a5y_p=3799227" target="_blank">The Wicked Noodle’s shrimp snack is all about dressing up the base (cucumber). Go wild!
